this is the future of pale ale. with the major proliferation of ingredients, it seems like all brewers have access to the same stuff, which inevitably leads to beers that sort of taste the same overtime. perhaps there is a finite number of ways these elements can be combined and stewed up, but i dont want to think about limits. this is an expression of the new and limitless to me. brewed with all minnesota ingredients, the subtleties of some elements i have never tasted before present themselves to me, and as much as this is just a pale ale on the surface, its flavor profile is unique to me because of these, and the beer represents something awesome. its lightly hazy but still glowing in the glass under an inch of soapy white head. i get a dusty dry cereal grain complexion from this simple barley, so fresh and sort of tasting like the agricultural north to me when i mix my palate with my emotions. the hops are earthy, dry, and spicy, sort of like a lower alpha cascade or something, not sure what the varietals are, but thats the vibe i get, a classic taste but unique at the same time, sort of noble-esque, fresh but not oily or particularly citrus forward. clean but layered in the flavor and finish, moderate bitterness, and just a real ease. freshness is obviously key here, but the subtle uniqueness of these minnesota ingredients have yielded a really rad beer. i thought this was awesome. the future is now!
