Dip hopped IPA. A reminder that beer can be bitter, have balanced malt character, and still be delicious. Closer to a traditional IPA but with a more intense malty aroma and a hop character that has enhanced floral and citrus character while minimizing the presence of myrcene (onion) prevalent in dry-hopped beers.

16 oz can from Tavour. Medium, clear amber pour, patchy tight head. Aroma is a balance of caramel malts and dome some earthy, herbal hops. Taste follows this pattern with malts up front and the hops simmering in the background. A bit sticky and the hop bite lingers for quite some time.

Pours a dark amber color. Initially crystal clear, although the last pour allows some sediment in the bottom of the can to cloud the beer. Thin two finger bubbly off-white head collapses pretty steadily leaving a valley in the head with hills of foam along the outside of the beer. One of the darker IPAs Ive seen - it almost looks like an amber ale.

Aroma is very malty with some notes of vegetation, some woody notes and a hint of orange. There is a hint of vegetal spiciness on the nose.

Taste follows the nose with a very earthy, malty flavor that has some woody notes. The hops are really floral, with some light orange/citrus notes. Quite bitter with a bitterness that initially is present but builds rapidly until an extremely bitter note reminiscent of wormwood lingers on the back end.

Feel is light to medium bodied, with a somewhat drier finish. Bright carbonation.

Overall its a really interesting IPA. Its very earthy and bitter, but its pretty well done. Really a solid IPA.

This was a 16 oz. can with a dark Carmel copper color and bubbles of carbonation hanging on long after the pour. Dip hopped IPA at 6.66 ABV was A bit thicker than I expected. Strong malt and citrus flavor that eased into a mild spice onion/garlic like aftertaste. Nice to try a beer like this that is not like a traditional IPA but has many traditional IPA qualities. Good tasting beer but not great. But the overall feel makes up for the taste. Thank you Fair State Brewing.

Pours clear amber with an off-white head.

Nose is spicy melon and orange. Remind me of gummy candies from the 90's.

Flavor is mandarin oranges. Some kind of a spiciness. Small hint of garlic. A touch grassy. Grapefruit flesh bitterness in the finish. A clean finish. The garlic note helps to boost the other flavors.

The mouthfeel is mid-bodied with a low-moderate carbonation and a hint of alcohol warmth.

Overall, an enjoyable, but uncomplicated IPA. Fairly muted in the notes I listed, but pleasant to drink.

Has a real unique and interesting grassy/herbal spiciness on the aroma.

Pours out a deep cloudy copper color.

Flavor is unique for this style too. Spicy...rye bread like....a hint of toffee.....hops lend some grassy notes...I know they say it is supposed to weed out the onion notes with their brewing process but I still get some cattiness....lighter though than many,..

Medium bodied and drinkable with a lighter carbonation...

A different take on an IPA and a welcome take on an IPA in my opinion. Tough to categorize it. Clearly not NE style...really not much in the way of WC IPA...probably more along the lines of an amped up English style IPA

Tasted in a Spiegelau IPA glass from a one pint can on December 8, 2019. Let us introduce you to “Partying Past Burning Bridges”, a collaboration with 3 Floyds Brewpub that celebrates connecting and collaborating in the name of gaining a new experience. This is a dip hopped IPA. Dip hopping is an innovative Japanese technique, new to both 3 Floyds and Fair State Co-op, that involves hopping the wort post heat exchange, but before the introduction of yeast.

On tap.

A - A very hazy caramel colored pour that's borderline opaque. There's a hefty layer of creamy off-white colored foam on top that clings to the sides of the glass.

S - Light caramel malt aroma with delicate floral and citrus aroma.

T - Caramel malt backbone that's more prevalent up front until light citrus and floral move in to balance the malt out. Some onion surfaces at 75% through and lingers on the palate after the sip.

M - Big medium body with dryness on the back of the tongue and very wet on the front of the tongue.

O - Fair State obviously was going for the traditional balanced IPA and they nailed it. What's untraditional is the onion-like character which you really don't find in traditional IPA's. Personally, I dig onion character in a beer and with this one it's subtle enough during the sip to not be overbearing but builds momentum on the palate after it slides down the pie hole.

A: The beer is clear dark amber in color; when held up to a bright light a slight amount of visible carbonation is perceptible. It poured with a short off white head that left a large patch of lacy bubbles on the surface, a narrow collar around the edge of the glass, and some streaks of bubbles clinging to the surface.
S: Light aromas of pineapples are present in the nose along with hints of herbal hops and caramel malts.
T: The taste has flavors of caramel and pale malts along with notes of herbal hops and hints of citrus and tropical fruits. A light to moderate amount of bitterness is perceptible.
M: It feels medium-bodied and somewhat crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The taste of this IPA seems to be more malty than it is hoppy, but it still has a good amount of bitterness. It's definitely an interesting change of pace compared to nearly all of today's IPAs.

L: A dark amber, mostly filtered with two fingers of beige froth, settling down to a full cap which climbs the glass and leaves wide lines of lace. It may not look like juice, but C'mon people - it's beautiful!

S: The nose is all malt and bittering hops.

T: Follows the nose with caramel malts, breadiness, and a bad hint of soap. On my second try I was blasted with the relevation: THIS IS DANK! Very interesting and this sets it apart from other malt bombs out there. Neat!

F: Medium body - resinous.

O: Overall I'm with the crowd that I wouldn't come back to this, but it should be respected nonetheless for some inventiveness which sets it apart.

16 oz can

Pours mostly clear amber gold, yellowish head retains well as a sudsy lacing.

Aroma is of bread malts, honey, citrus, and light pine.

Flavor is cereal malts, citrus, zest and herbal notes, and a piney hop finish.

Medium body, light carbonation.

Decent IPA with okay flavor. It's a traditional IPA like they all used to be before the haze craze. I miss these sometimes. This one isn't fantastic though, but drinkable.
