Fair States Purple Tooth Wine-barrel Aged Imperial Stout, 9% ABV. This is based on their Giantsbane stout. Pours black with a slight brown head. Nose is sweet grape and chocolate. Taste is tart grape, slight chocolate, roast malt, some bitterness, no sweetness - not a pastry stout. Decent but dry mouthfeel, overall excellent.

Poured from 16 oz can into snifter.
A: Pours a dark brown with 1/2 inch tan head that fairly quickly recedes to a thin skim.
S: Sweet red wine, dry dark chocolate, and a hint of whiskey.
T: Dry dark chocolate quickly followed by strong red wine. Hints of whiskey, vanilla, and dark dried fruit. The red wine element is quite strong. Unusually strong for barrel aging.
M: Medium body. Sweet red wine with mildly sweet chocolate comes off as imbalanced.
D: An interesting experimental brew with some good elements, but doesn’t quite hold up as a whole.

I feel really bad about doing this to one of my favorite breweries, but this is a muddled mess. The mix of stout, red wine and bourbon is offputting.
By the by, Heckin' Chonker was quite good and the 2019 FSB series was excellent, especially Part 3.
