Malty and round, with some dark malt flavor but none of the acrid roast character one might find in a stout, Eleven Degrees is everything we want dark lager to be. Our version of this classic is decoction-mashed for extra malt intangibles, and is balanced out by an addition of spicy, herbal Kazbek hops. Honestly this is the sort of beer we’d brew all the time if we could.
Eleven Degrees gets its name from the seasonally appropriate intersection of Minnesota air temperatures and Czech beer naming conventions. In the Czech tradition, beers are referred to by number as much as name—8 degree, 10 degree, 12 degree—which refers to the relative strength of the beer. You might have to be Minnesotan to love 11 degrees as an air temperature, but we think pretty much anyone can enjoy the beer version.

Pours a dark coca cola brown color. Its essentially opaque thanks to how dark it is, but you can tell the clarity is excellent around the edges. Two to three finger khaki colored head forms on the beer, lingers a moment, then dissipates leaving just a thin residual layer of foam on the beer. Aroma has notes of rye bread, nutty malts, dark rustic bread and some light toasted character.
Taste follows the nose with notes of rye bread, dark rustic bread, some nutty malts and again, just a hint of toasted character to the malts. Spicy, moderately bitter grassy hops come through on the back end. There is a touch of cocoa to the beer, but it's very subtle. Feel is medium bodied, smooth, easy drinking. Moderate carbonation.
Overall, this is a stellar Czech dark lager and one that I hope stays available in the market because I will definitely pick it up again.

Canned 12/28/22; drank 3/26/23 @ the Yarchives.
Opaque brown/orange appearance.
A rough pour yielded a big tan head; a thick curtain of lace.
Dark grain, acorn & faint pine notes in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Dark grain & acorn flavors; mild pine bite on the finish.
Balanced & easy to drink. I'd have another!

Overall: A very nice Dark Czech Lager here. Didn't expect anything less form Fair State. Nice dark and roasty chococolate flavors balanced by some herbal spice and bitterness from the Kazbek hops. Dry, clean, roasty, and somewhat hoppy and bitter. Nails the Czech flavors with a nice addition of hoppy bitterness. (Rating: 4.10)

L-Dark brown...nice frothy chocolate head.
S-Cocoa....breads....
T-Nice rounded maltiness with hints of chocolate, and bread crusts. Never heard of these hops used but they do yield a nice spiciness.
F-Clean, light side of medium bodied...Boy this drinks easy while still being loaded with flavor....
O-This is a great beer. Top notch..

16oz can. Can bottom is stamped 'B: DEC/28/22'.
Deep brown colored body. Two fingers of khaki colored head, which remains as a tight bubble cap. Leaves behind a ring of lacing with each sip.
Aroma of dark malt with some chocolate overtones. There is a bit of spice also.
Taste is an envelopment of dark chocolate malt, with some dark roast coffee. The hops express as herbal and spicy, well balanced with the malts. Bitterness is kept low. Mellow malt roast in the aftertaste.
Thicker mouth feel. Very smooth, with a crisp finish. Excellent carbonation.
Very satisfying dark lager, right on for flavors and balanced. Probably better listed for style under 'Czech Dark Lager'.
