Nectaron and Mosaic hops pop in this IPA made for the ride from Fair State to Hop Butcher! This Midwest collab is inspired by the historic Twin Cities 400 train that once connected our cities of Minneapolis and Chicago. All aboard—and if you time it right, you can drink all four before you arrive.

Poured a honey to straw color with a nice head dissipating to a ring of foam with some lacing.
Aroma is citrusy.
The taste is citrus balanced with some nice malty sweetness. A little bit of pine as well.
Good mouthfeel with a dry finish. Carbonation seems about right.
The can says IPA but tastes and looks a little more like a NEIPA to me.
Overall very nice and drinkable.

16oz can. Bottom date stamp is 'B : APR/30/24'. Collaboration with Hop Butcher.
Cloudy, straw colored body. Two finger of white head upon pouring, and this results in a creamy cap and ring. Leaves behind partial webs of lacing.
Aroma of lemon, grapefruit, and orange.
Taste is citrus strong with grapefruit and orange flavors. Lemon precedes each taste profile. Has a touch of dank pine.
Medium mouth feel. Dry and clean finish. Very good carbonation.
More citrus than dank, but the hops control the flavor direction. More fruit than pine.

Canned 4/29/24 (1 month ago)
Appearance: Pours a completely clouded, medium orange color with a strong white head. SRM of 8. (4.00)
Aroma: Strong aromas of lemon and grapefruit citrus, sweet berries, and pineapple, with a dank and resonance pin note underneath. (4.00)
Flavor: Strong flavors of lemon and grapefruit, orange citrus, zesty, pineapple, with some hints of tropical melon and berries. Dank pine and citrus underneath. (4.00)
Feel: Medium to lighter body, strong carbonation. Dank, but clean. (4.00)
Compared to Hop Butcher Single Grind 5/2024: Pours identical, stronger aromas. More zesty citrus and dank, resinous pine. Less tropical berries, lime, melon. Drier and cleaner.
Compared to BlackStack DDH City Pages 6/2024: Pours darker, milder aromas. More tangerine, stonefruit. Less juicy pineapple, melon, mango skins.
Compared to Hop Butcher Soapboxer 6/2024: Pours lighter. Milder aromas. Less grape, berries, tropical melon, and papaya. More citrus, pineapple, passionfruit. Cleaner, but similar sweetness.
Overall: The 400 Club. It's a collab with Hop Butcher named after the 400 mile train that went between them. Nectaron and Mosaic here. Initally very dank upfront. As it sits more of the passionfruit, wine grapes evolve. It grows on me as it warms and I can appreciate it more. It leans more Fair State, but has some Hop Butcher complexity as well. What a great beer from two of the best breweries. (Rating: 4.05)

From a 16oz can:
Appearance: Cloudy orange-yellow, huge puffy head.
Smell: Citrusy, bit of melon, mildly tropical.
Taste: Soft and sweet, nice citrusy flavor mixed with tropical fruit and a seeming bit of honey. A little melon too. No hop burn, soft feel and medium-light bodied.
Overall: A collaboration between Fair State and Hop Butcher, this was an auto pickup at the store. Very nice NE-style IPA, bordering on pale ale. Nice to see the 6.5% abv, doesn't overwhelm with alcohol, just a nicely sweet treat.
