500ml bottle
4.80% ABV
Royal Bank Plaza LCBO Outlet (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
September 20, 2014
$3.25
The beer pours a very hazy piss yello gold colour with a white cap that lingers. The aroma is stale grains, some floral hop tones, and weak spices. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is very grainly, slightly sweet, with a forgettable finish. Not their best effort.

Purchased at the LCBO for around $3.50 for a 500ml bottle. Served at 4deg C in a tulip
A- Opens hard and pours a tiny head that is gone in no time. Very light gold unfiltered
S- Pretty good. Good hops. Like a Heineken really.
T- Pretty good but the aftertaste is great. Something opens at the end like a juniper berry or something that really sets this one off. The first hit ain't nothing to speak of.
M- Pretty good and tight. Bittering hops are there.
O- Pretty good. Will try if I see it on tap
Food Pairing
This nice beer went well with.... Roast Chicken
Enjoy

500ml from the Ottawa LCBO for $3 or so
Appearance - Gold colour with an average size white coloured head. There is an average amount of carbonation showing and there is some fair lacing. The head lasted for around 4-5 minutes before it was gone.
Smell - Breads/grains, lemons, hay/grass
Taste & Mouth - There is an above average amount of carbonation and I can taste breads/grains, noble hops, lemons, some grass/hay, and a honey sweetness
Overall - A decent thirst quencher. Nothing very exciting but good for the style and a good summer beer. I might pick this one up again.

500 mL bottle picked up at the LCBO; served slightly chilled. This is not a style I have piles of experience with, but the handful that I have tried were all highly enjoyable.
Pours a cloudy golden-yellow colour, topped with roughly half a finger of frothy white head. It wilts steadily over the next minute or two, leaving behind a modest collar and some scant lace. This beer has a simple, fresh and clean aroma that I could detect as soon as I popped the cap off. Grainy pale malts, crackers, lemon rind and grassy, floral hops come through nicely, with a somewhat sulphury twinge to the bouquet. Thumbs up so far.
it didn't take me long to fall in love with this one. The flavour profile follows the aroma fairly closely - grainy, crackery pilsener malt, some bitter citrus rind and a beautiful hoppy finish. Rather grassy, with strongly floral tones and a spicy, peppery finish that blends well with the restrained sweetness of the malts. On the heftier side of light-bodied, with assertive carbonation that gives this light lager a crisp, lively feel in the mouth. This is easily one of the best German-style lagers I've tried in recent memory - delicious and absolutely sessionable.
Final Grade: 4.29, an impressive A-. Barn Door Brewing has made some noise in recent months by releasing a number of very well-made German-style lagers, but I'd have to say that Summer Storm is the best of the lot, at least in my eyes. This is a light, refreshing, skillfully-brewed beer that I am enjoying immensely. Any fan of noble hops or German lagers in general should consider this one a must-try, especially at only $3.25 a bottle. Fabulous stuff that I will be back for more of, and would happily recommend - the perfect way to celebrate my 750th review.
