Are You Kidding Me? is clear aa day and shines like freshly polished gold. Carbonation shoots up in bunches to constantly reinforce the dirty white head. That foam comes about easily, a couple fingers in height on the pour actually. It's puffy and creamy and while settling, leaves behind chunky peaks and valleys of lace. This is a damn good looking beer!
The nose is bright and fresh. It's summer-y to say the least. The malt base is bready and a bit crackery as it lies down a sturdy foundation. The hop profile really shines in this beer though it's well balanced. It's a little dank and earthy off the bat with some mascerated blueberries. A healthy dose of tropicals pop up on the back end with a fistful of orange marmalade and a sugar cookie sweetness. Good balance with a mouthwatering profile, both malt and hop.
The flavor follows the nose nicely. It's softly bready, think barely toasted white bread, and crackery. The tropicals are joined by citrus. Pithy and peel driven. Mango and pineapple join for a tropical jamminess before that orange marmalade kicks back in. That dank earthiness lingers more on the periphery but brings with it a herbal bitterness on the swallow that's of the utmost enjoyability.
The body sits a tick under moderate in weight with a supremely airy feel. It's light and supple on the tongue with a near perfect silkiness. The bitterness is assertive, growing with each drink until it reaches moderate in strength. The finish dries up fairly quickly, well done. Zero noticeable alcohol along with the drying finish and crazy drinkability make this one far too easy to tip back.
Are You Kidding Me? is a great beer from the folks at Werk Force. The summertime-iest of summertime beers I have yet to come across this year. It's dank and citric with an assertive hoppiness, dry finish, and immense drinkability. Go get you some.
