Basic lager, crisp, light, and refreshing. Very solid.

16oz, canned on 02/01/2019. Pale golden-yellow body with a slight haze and a white head that disappears very quickly. Grassy aroma with mild lemony citrus and pale grain. Refreshing and light flavors of nutty pale malt, spicy & grassy hops, and a touch of lemon. Light-to-medium body, ample carbonation, dry, crisp, and clean finish. Easy to drink but nothing special - which I presume is what they were going for with this one.

Tasted in a Spiegelau lager glass from a one pint can on October 15, 2018. Similar to its more famous namesake and a good choice for a backyard barbecue.

Old Style, err....Ol' Pile is the palest of goldens. The clarity is downright amazing. The body acts more as a magnifying glass than as a hindrance to reading something on the other side. The foam manages to rise easily, it's soapy and crackling in nature but it recedes as quickly as it rose. When it recedes, it recedes to nothing bat a dew stray bubbles here and there. The clarity helps, the lack of foam does not.
This guy gets going with a straight up bold graininess. There's some Frosted Flakes in there as well but the simple grain leads the way. A mild floral hop profile rounds it out, that floral quality borders perfume but doesn't quite make it. It's straightforward but certainly approachable and inviting.
I can't say that the flavor doesn't follow the nose. A steady, rather straightforward graininess leads from front to back. That Frosted Flake quality adds some sweetness that also pushes through the finish for a touch of depth, or character would be a better descriptor. The finish is slightly floral and rather clean. I like it.
The body sits at moderate in weight. It's soft overall with a rather lazy carbonation. The bubbles seem to fit with the overall plushness of the body. It's a bit chalky on the swallow and finishes dry. It's certainly very drinkable and rather fun. A good beer to drink for the sake of drinking beer while doing other things.
Ol' Pile is a fun beer considering its Old Style clone roots. It's enjoyable. A beer to be passed around at parties. Cool label design as well. I don't know how often I would buy this packaged, considering the price point but I've had more than a few on draft as well, so there's that. Me likey.

Had on tap and in can. Honestly tastes about the same on both. Upon pour and smell it seems like an average good lager with bread, malts and light hops. But take a sip! There is a lovely rising tone of honey and fresh bread that guides you the whole way down the glass. Great for hot summer days. The wife liked it
