Light mahagany colored bier is capped with a tight and foamy beige head. Smoky aroma with caramel and grain. Malty and smoky flavors: caramel, bread crust, toasty grain; mild fruit and earthy hops round out the flavors. Medium body, ample carbonation, well balanced finish. Good utilization of the smoked malt - just the right amount to which it is definitely present yet not overbearing. Overall, it is a well put-together smoked beer; perfect for a cool fall day like today.

This guy here is labeled as a Smoked German Amber Lager. It's a beauty. A deep chestnut brown body shows off amber highlights and crystal clear clarity. The dirty white foam is a bit sudsy and quick to form on an easy pour. That foam sticks around for a good while and leaves spotty lace that eases back into the body after a minute or so. It's about all you could ask, really.
The nose is about as mouthwatering as you can get from a smoked beer. A soft, fairly sweet smoke hugs the entirety. There's a good dose of malt. Brown bread, verging on spicy, kicks it off before a long drizzle of caramel runs the middle and nougat finishes it all off. A well conceived, spicy hoppiness brings up the rear and adds to that brown bread character. This stuff has a ton of depth.
What I explained above fits here. A good mix of caramel, brown bread and nougat make for a complex, ever changing malt profile while the soft smoke hugs it all and brings a touch of sweetness. The spicy hop character pops up here and there but lingers on the finish with that breadiness and lingering nougat. This is crack.
The body has some girth upfront. It's a tick or two above moderate with a plush feel. The carbonation is soft and velvety. There's a medicinal, from the smoke, and hop numbness that reaches every surface. The smoke and soft bittering hop qualities box out any sweetness and this beer dries up fairly quickly. It's a champ of a drinker.
The Bamberg Odin is one hell of a beer. It's clean and absurdly complex. The malt character is expressive while the smoke is supplementary. It's incredibly easy drinking and worth giving some thoughts upon while doing so.
