Tasted out of a 750ml bottle, no bottle on date. Pours a deep dark brown, lighter than I would expect for an imperial stout. Leaves a huge, light tan head that sits heavily on top and takes a while to dissipate. Smell is hints of vanilla and roasted malts, but is predominantly Belgian-esqe yeast notes. Taste is interesting notes of roasted malts, chocolate and an earthy quality I would attribute to the mushrooms, but similar to smell there is a yeast flavor that I find off putting. Mouthfeel out of the bottle was well over carbonated, the beer had to sit open for a while before it settled down and felt right.

Overall, I picked this up because it seemed like an ambitious and interesting beer, but I suspect the beer was hamstrung by either a poor choice of yeast or perhaps an infection. I base this on both the amount of carbonation coming out of the bottle and present in the beer and by what I presume to be off flavors from an unintended yeast or bacteria. I couldn't find much info on the beer, such as if this was intended as a wild ale of sorts, and if that were true it could change how I rate the beer. This review, however, is based upon the beer being an American Imperial Stout, so the numbers are what they are.

Had on tap. I actually agree with the taste listed on the tap list of "woodsy". Has robust bitter chocolate, bark, soil, little mushroom, dank funk, toasted malt, and a touch of vanilla. Very robust and bitter up front, then giving way to the slightly brighter notes all the while maintaining a heavy body. Was a fun and unique one to try
