Crisp - Light Roast - Noble
What happens when you take one of your favorite German style Pilsner recipes and add Midnight Wheat and Carapils Malts?? Genuine Authentic. That’s what happens. Don’t let the black color deceive you. This beer is super light and refreshing with a touch of noble hop character from aromatic Hallertau Mittelfrüher hops. It’s perfect for welcoming in the winter months and pairs very well with a cozy fire. We hope you enjoy Genuine Authentic as much as we do!

Undated can; drank 5/24/24 @ the Yarchives.
Black/brown appearance.
A rough pour yielded a nice, noisy tan head which quickly dissipated; decent, frothy lacing remained.
Medium roast coffee bean & faint pine notes in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Medium roast coffee bean & mild cream flavors; faint pine bite on the finish.
I'm not exactly sure what a "black pilsner" is supposed to taste like, but this was drinkable if not overly memorable.

On tap at the brewery - Plainfield, IL.
Pitch black body with a tall and foamy brown head. Roasty aroma with dark chocolate and French roast coffee. Big roasty flavors - fresh roasted barley, char & ash, dark cocoa, French roast coffee, earthy hops. Medium body, ample carbonation, roast lingers on the finish even though it is a pretty clean and semi-dry finish. Very enjoyable and approachable.
