16 ounce can into a snifter. Had 7/15/22.
Pours a dark cherry red, semi opaque, with a one and a half inch foamy head, with some foamy lacing. Aromas of grapes, malt, light red wine, light caramel. Has a light spicy and herbal aroma. Flavors of malt, grapes, some caramel and red wine. Has a light spicy taste. Smooth, a lighter medium body, appropriately carbonated.
The Cabernet grape must is excellent. Certainly a light barleywine, but not thin feeling. Well done and very good.

A barleywine rested on cabernet grape must, which sounds delightful, akin to CBC's Arquebus and other barleywines aged in wine barrels. In practice, the grapes take over much more than I'd like, leaving a somewhat one-dimensional end product. It's challenging to get much of the base beer that I was hoping for, as it's drowned out by juicy grape on the front palate and dry tannins near the finish. It was pleasant enough on draft on a warm day at the taproom, but the impression left from the can is more of a large glass of watered down, lightly carbonated wine.
