Double Barrel Aged Imperial Pastry Stout.
During a routine brewer safety meeting last winter we put our creative caps on. We were able to get our hands on three Elijah Craig bourbon barrels and decided to take some of our barrel aged Humongous Chungus and throw it deeper into the world of barrel. We welcome you to our latest in our Chungus series – Cowabungus Chungus. Post barrel we loaded it up with toasted coconut, vanilla and freshly roasted Ghana cacao nibs. Holy coconut chocolate explosion Batman!! Sweet rich booze of the double barrel process pairs perfectly with the velvety smoothness of this pastry stout. We figured no better time to release a beer like that then on the national holiday of 4/20. Get ready to party, it's Cowabungus Chungus time!

Wow, Werk Force has an amazing barrel program, stouts and sours. They have the medals to prove it. This beer is amazing, thick with great adjuncts. Great tasting room as well. If your ever in Plainfield, IL, this is the place to go.

Aroma has lots of barrel, but also vanilla, marshmallow, chocolate, coconut, and whipped cream. The sweet additives smell great, but they really do detract from the barrel aging and in a beer that is double barrel aged - I want that barrel to shine out more.
Taste has the same issue - the stout and adjuncts just dominate the barrel character. It's there, just very much secondary . That being said, this is incredibly tasty and is like liquid desert. The barrel character is mostly present in the underlying heat present in the beer.
If you like pastry stouts this is incredible and a must try. I had 8 ounces and it was perfect.
