$ 7.00/16 oz shaker ($ 0.438/oz) at brewery. Consumed 8 Sep 18, reviewed from notes 9/24/18.
Appearance – 3.5.
Body – Dark brown/black, opaque. Dark brown at the edge, the only place light penetrates.
Head – Small, creamy, tan, rapidly diminishing to a thin layer and two mm ring.
Lacing – None.
First pour – N/A
Aroma – 4 – Strong aroma of roasted malt.
Flavor – 4 – Roasted malt and just a touch of diacetyl buttery-ness. No alcohol (7 % ABV), no dimethylsulfide, no hops.
Palate – 3.5 – Medium, almost creamy, soft carbonation.
Impression and interpretation – 3.5 – The roasted malt is over the top although the slight taste of diacetyl does help attenuate it. Still, not one I’ll revisit.
