Served on tap in a pint glass

Appearance – The beer is served a super hazy golden orange color with a billowy white head. The head fades relatively quickly leaving some decent streaky lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma of the beer is rather big of a yeast and clove smell with a strong showing of some coriander spice and wheat. Along with these aromas comes some nice banana aromas and a little bit of orange. With a moderate showing of some grass and hay, a rather nice somewhat sweeter and yeasty spiced saison aroma is produced.

Taste – The taste begins with a nice sweeter wheaty and biscuit taste with a big sweetness of banana, some citrus, and a bit of candied sugar. While the yeast isn’t too heavy upfront, it really gets quite a bit stronger as the taste advances, bringing with it a rather large amount spice of clove and coriander. Toward the very end a little bit of grass and hay come to the tongue. By this time the yeast and spice are rather strong, and with the mix of sweeter flavors that was first encountered on the tongue, one is left with a nice and smooth sweet yeasty flavor to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the slightly chewier side with a carbonation level that is rather average. The thick body, while not perfect for the sweet and spice, are great for the yeasty tastes of the brew and help enhance the lighter grassy tastes, which overall produce a rather mouth coating feel.

Overall – This was a very nice sweeter saison. I think beer snobs, sweeter beer fans, and those that would order a Blue Moon when at a bar (actually I have nothing against Blue Moon, but this brew packs in way more flavor, punch and feel) would all very much enjoy this beer. Quite tasty and very enjoyable and approachable.
