473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Sep 11 2025 and served slightly chilled.

Pours a foggy golden-yellow colour, topped with an inch of frothy white head that falls off within the next two or three minutes. A sudsy collar and filmy cap are the main survivors, with a small amount of stringy lace adhering to the glass. Grainy on the nose, with hints of honey, doughy malts, white bread and floral, earthy hops.

There's not much to complain about flavour-wise; this is a tasty festbier. Grainy, crackery malts, bread and a light honey sweetness come through early on, with just a hint of caramelized sugars by mid-sip. Noble hops develop on the back end, adding a floral, herbal, rather spicy aspect to the profile that carries on into a bready, lightly caramelized finish that persists momentarily into the aftertaste. Medium in body, with moderately assertive carbonation that briskly prickles the tongue, making for a crisp, refreshing and highly drinkable strong lager.

Final Grade: 3.95, a B+. Even after sitting around for seven months, Dominion City's Festbier is still holding up very nicely, and I'll be sure to keep an eye out for fresh stock this autumn. The visuals could use a little work, but aside from that minor issue, this is top notch by Ontario standards, comparing favourably with many of its domestic-brewed alternatives. If you enjoy German lagers, this is well worth seeking out for yourself.

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a pint glass. From the Huron Church Rd. LCBO in nearby Windsor. Canned August 5/25. My ninth beer from the Ottawa, Ontario brewery, and sixth for 2025. Approved resoundingly by Gracie the cat...

Draft: Poured a clear brown color ale with a large off-white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of caramel malt notes with some floral hops notes. Taste is a mix of caramel malt notes with some herbal hops notes and light rainy notes with a dry finish. Body is about average with good carbonation. Enjoyable festbier but malt bill could be a little bit cleaner.
