473 mL can from the LCBO; dated May 27 2025 and served slightly chilled.
Pours a hazy pale golden colour, briefly supporting one finger of soapy, foamy white head; it exhausts itself within a couple of minutes. Its remnants include a sudsy collar and a filmy cap, with a respectable smattering of patchy lace flung onto the glass; looks like a typical hazy IPA. Dank, slightly woodsy aroma with hints of passion fruit, muddled citrus and earthy, herbal hops.
It's a solid brew; there are some NEIPA-like traits here, but it lacks the juiciness needed to make a full-throated case for that style. Therefore, in an effort to appeal to the zeitgeist of national unity, I'm going with "bicoastal hybrid". Wheaty, bready malt flavours mingle with citrusy, fruity hops: I'm getting grapefruit and lemon early on, joined by hints of stone fruit later on. Finishes dank and a little resiny, with some piney, earthy hop bitterness and grapefruit pithiness tying up the back end nicely; mildly resiny aftertaste that lingers a bit. Medium-full in body, with middling carbonation that gently prickles the tongue, adding some bite to this brew's smooth, soft and fulfilling texture. Great drinkability for 6.5%.
Final Grade: 4.05, an Eh minus. I meant to review this on Canada Day, but wound up doing something else - ah well, c'est la vie. Glorious and Free is a very good strong pale ale, and also a brew that I could legitimately see entering my weekly rotation of IPAs. However, I don't necessarily expect this to become a mainstay of Dominion City's lineup - and even if it *does* manage to become a regular, I am on the edge of their distribution zone. I suppose my best option is to buy as many of these as possible, while it's still available. Definitely worth trying ASAP.

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a pint glass. Gifted to me by Chris from Toronto's The Bodega of The Craft Brand Co. My sixth beer from the Ottawa, Ontario brewery, and third for 2025. Happy Canada Day! =)

Review from notes. Served cold into a pint glass.
Appearance - Very hazy, yellowy gold brew with two fingers of chunky white head and outstanding head retention.
Smell - Peach and apricot with some orange mixed in. Dank weedy undercurrent.
Taste - Fair bitter with a kiss of stone fruit, plenty of orange pith and then underlying sweetness.
Mouthfeel - Medium-full bodied. Fairly juicy with modest carbonation.
Overall - Very solid IPA from Dominion City which has become one of my favorite brewers in province.
