Murky, dark chocolate-brown in a Swiftwater Snifter. Surprisingly, a 1.5" head is produced of glistening dark walnut foam, that slowly compresses to a dense cream. Thick webbing clings above and around a viscous film that rises and falls with each sip.
Dark roasted chocolate molé sauce greats the nose, just before a light snap of habanero pepper. While at first this seems a simple profile, the finely crafted sensation becomes evident through the distinction of each component.
Oh, Wow! The dark chocolate and char roasted malt provide an exquisite balance to the pepper. Nothing is overdone here, allowing the base stout to be complimented by the cacao and pepper. By no means sweet nor bitter, both are evident, and the heat is simply another aspect of the total experience. The finish is long, blunt, and fading, like a serene sunset that belies earlier events. Warmth mellows the flavors evenly.
A dense body and creamy smooth texture. My bottle lists the abv as 13.2%, which seems about right, as the alcohol heat leads a dance with its pepper partner. Both cleave to the tongue, cheeks, and throat. Yet it is by no means hot, rather it is a tingle that holds one's attention. Carbonation is soft and prickly.
I am reading Under the Volcano, which seems appropriate for the beer given the geographic location, plot of the novel, and craft of the sentences. Later I plan to finish the bottle with a burger and gorgonzola.

500ml bottle. 8/15/22 batch, 13.2% abv
pours black, with tan colored head. decent head retention. Big dark cocoa and smokey chile flavors in the aroma and flavor. Definitely has a spicey kick to balance the mild sweetness. Thick, full bodied. A little boozy.

Pitch black beer, little fizzy head, little lacing.
Nose big cocoa and little roast, char notes, little fudge, candy, nice roasted pepper, little bitter hop.
Taste nice roasted pepper more like poblano with very little heat, cocoa, little dark choc and fudgey, mild roasted, caramel, chewy, little creamy.
Mouth med bod but feels thin for what it is.

Imperial stout brewed with cocoa nibs and habanero. Had on tap at brewery. Available in growlers for members only. Definitely spicy and rich, built for sipping. Almost 12% is a lil heavy to go with the habanero IMO but in no way a bad stout.
