Random stop while up in Wells, Me on Labor Day weekend. I am very happy I visited as this taproom provided great beers at low prices and a super relaxing environment. A hidden gem of New England.
A- Pours from the taps to a snifter with a golden orange body and a fluffy white cap. The head has decent retention falling to a medium ring. Sheets of lace are present in moderate amounts.
S/T- General berry tones in the aroma but in the flavor they become muddled somehow. Less tart compared to the apricot version. A tad vinous from the berry and rhubarb. More fresh fruit with time and warming of the beer.
MF- Light-medium bodied with a foamy texture brought on by a high level of carbonation bubbles. Any agitation makes a creamy padding arise which helps cut out some of the edge from a moderate tartness.
A fairly gentle berry flavor but strawberry tends to be like that in most beers. The rhubarb and berry are fairly obvious but balanced out by a strong Gose base of wheat and lactic acid.
