Reviewed blind from NBS BIF #6. 375 ml, bottled 12/1/2016. Poured into tulip. Poured with a lovely mocha head, big bubbled, deep black. Could be coffee by the look of it. The nose is intense prunes and raisins, molasses and Belgian chocolate. Chocolate covered raisins, then a prickly spice. It was certainly unexpected. Boozy heat. More lingering chili spice. Is that chipotle? Funky esters. First thought was a barley wine by smell, then maybe a RIS but now a spiced Belgian stout...? BLIND REVIEW.
Once I revealed the beer, I'd say I did a decent job of picking out the major characteristics. I did not get a lot of barrel notes or tequila. Very unique beer for sure.
