Dark Matter - Heaven Hill Bourbon Barrel-Aged

Sampling a 500 ml bottle at cellar temp poured into my snifter. First ever gusher bottle from Barreled Souls... :(
Pop the cap and some dark brown foam comes out onto my tablecloth. ugh. I gotta hit the look a bit for the gusher, never cool.
But wow does this beer smell nice! Lots of sweet bourbon notes even from this spillage.
The beer does pour a pitch black color with creamy, zealous tan head of 1 cm. Even the spilled foam is dark tan and creamy. A dense edge layer remains in my glass throughout the sampling.
The nose is big boozy bourbon, brown sugar, and dark chocolate. Also some dry wooden scents mixed in. The bourbon carries the most and is sweet and boozy, but not fusol alcohol notes or heat either. No real hop presence anywhere either.
First sip reveals a smooth creamy textured beer with medium body and very fine spacious rolling carbonation. No ill effects in the beer reflective from the gushing. So I will take it!
The flavor is similar to the nose, with a lot of bourbon notes, some vanilla, dark chocolate and roasted malts. Mixed in brown sugar and then finishes with more bourbon. Sweet bourbon, but also some almost charred wooden notes. Its an interesting flavor and there is some warm booze that comes through on the finish and lingers after each sip.
Another solid big dark beer from Barreled Souls, was worried when it gushed out of the gates, but solid in the glass!
