Red-tinted black with two fat fingers of dense, foamy dark mocha head. Thick, sloppy lacing.

Brownie batter with loads of sweet vanilla, slightly floral and with a little bubblegum.

Toasty chocolate pastry with lots of vanilla, some raisin and a spicy proto-cinnamon flavor. Light bitterness in the finish.

Really pillowy, soft feel.

Interesting flavor profile.

I split this gift box with my brother and he got the Indonesian version. Hope I chose wisely!
Pouring a cellar temp bottle into my snifter.
The beer pours a jet black color with no light passing through my glass. The tan head of 1.5 cm foams up from the gentle pour, it is much fizzier and less creamy textured than the head on the other Barreled Souls beers that I have sampled.
Kinda interesting. the foam does settle to a sturdy edge layer and some wispy streams floating on the surface.

Aroma on this beer is unsurprisingly some vanilla, but not as much as I had anticipated. I also get a good hit of dark chocolate and molasses mixing together. No hop presence and the ABV is fairly well hidden on the nose too.

First sip reveals a very smooth texture and gentle mild carbonation. Medium to thick body reminds me this is a bigger beer. Otherwise this could get me into trouble.
Flavor is brown sugar and chocolate notes with a good hit of vanilla in the middle. Some roasted malts come through and then dark chocolate and some wooden oak dryness come through on the finish. Vanilla lingers a little too, and the booze shows up with some warmth on the swallow.
This is a good imperial stout, but not the best one that I have had from Barreled Souls. Glad to have tried it for sure and hope my brother didnt get the better version!!
