Gnome's Soul barrel aged for just over 17 months in Buffalo Trace barrels, skipped the lactose, and added a little more vanilla. The beer tastes like a good boozy bourbon stout with a scoop of pistachio ice cream.

Sampling a cellar temp 500 ml bottle poured into my snifter. Picked up from the brewery.
The beer pours a jet black color with a creamy and dense tan head of 2 cm. This foam gradually fades to nothing.
The aroma is lots of chocolate, mostly dark and baker's style, with some roasted notes and a bit of nutty pistachio note too. I dont get any hops nor much vanilla nor any booze from the 15.6% ABV.
First sip reveals an ultra creamy texture and dense body with very soft and mild carbonation. The beer is filling and a sipper based on physical traits.
Flavor is some chocolate and a bit of vanilla and bourbon mixing. There is some nutty pistachio note towards the end, but this gets taken over by dark chocolate again. The hops are buried and the booze is also not very prevalent.
This is a good imperial stout, the vanilla is not as pronounced as I had hoped, but the booze is hidden and I enjoy this big imperial stout with a smooth body.
