This rye wine has been aged in 12 year old Buffalo Trace barrels for a little over 11 months. It reaps the benefits of both the older Bourbon barrels and the high rye grain bill, creating a heavier, sweet mouthfeel with a drier finish.

Sampling a 2020 bottle aged in 12 year old buffalo trace barrels for 11months and 19 days. Picked up as part of my order in October and has been cellar temp since then.
Im pouring at cellar temp into my snifter.
The beer pours almost still and I go sort of aggressive pour to get even a mild creamy khaki colored head to bubble up. This foam fades to a strong edge layer soon after the bottle empties and there are several active streams of carbonation rising but not refreshing the foam.
The color of the beer is a deep mahogany color with garnet highlights, there are some fine suspended particles in the glass.
Aroma is rich and malty with raisins, red grape, toffee, a little vanilla and some spicy rye notes. Not really too boozy or hot, and no real hop character either.
First sip reveals a thick slightly syrupy body with fine prickly carbonation. Feels like a sipping beer to me!
Flavor is malt forward. I get toffee, bourbon and vanilla notes mixing with brown sugar and some dark fruit, raisins again. No hops anywhere and there isnt any booze heat or peppery bite. I do get a sweet stickiness on my lips after each sip.
This is dangerously drinkable and while it feels like a sipper, it isnt challenging to drink. Another winner from Barreled Souls!

This one pours a very thick and syrupy looking golden brown color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells like concentrated caramel, raisin, cherry, rye, toffee, Heath, vanilla, and oak.
Due to the advanced ABV on this one, it's quite sweet, but the heavy duty barrel character and addition of rye to the grain bill go a long way in balancing that big candied caramel and dark fruit sweetness. The barrel gives vanilla and spice, along with tobacco, and the rye, while not completely overcoming the sweetness, adds a very pleasant spiced character.
There's no booziness here, which is awesome, and it has a big, thick, and semi-syrupy mouthfeel.
This is one of the best Barreled Souls beers that I've had so far - it's super decadent but really well done.

Lightly hazed tawny brown with a finger-and-a-half of slow-building, light tan head that settles into a lasting crown.
Caramel, leather and little hint of spice in the nose.
Caramel and vanilla sit on top of some very clear rye spiciness throughout. Dull, earthy bitterness and a kiss of alcohol burn in the finish.
Super creamy feel. Light carbonation.
Love the rye in this. Very pronounced.
