This Bourbon BA beer rested in Buffalo trace barrels for a little over a year, has a super fresh bourbon taste to accompany the sweet caramel and toasted nut base provided by the large amounts of Maris Otter used in the grain bill.

Im sampling this beer at cellar temp and poured into my snifter. The beer was bottled on 10/13/2020 and picked up at the brewery in Oct 2021 and has been in my cellar since.
The beer pours a deep dark mahogany color with very minimal dense beige head forming up about .25 cm and fading to nothing fairly soon after the pour. One active spinning circle churns in the center of my glass as carbonation rises to the surface.
Aroma is malt forward with lots of toffee and brown sugar mixing with plums and raisins and a good dose of sweeter bourbon. I dont get any wooden notes nor any fusol booze. Hops are not present either. Seems spot on for what I anticipated the nose to be when I contemplated opening this bottle.
First sip reveals a sticky texture that coats my lips and palate with each sip. Fairly thick body, almost oily feel, and almost still carbonation. The bubbles that are present are very gentle. Feels the part of a big boozy barleywine.
Flavor is sweeter brown sugar at first with toffee and raisin in the middle and some bourbon notes coming through and finally a little boozy warmth. Its almost like cinnamon warmth, not hot and aggressive, more spicy...not sure that makes any sense. The warmth slowly rolls to my belly and makes for an excellent sipping beer quality.
Hops are absent on flavor profile too.
Based on description I thought I would love this beer....spoiler alert... I do!
Another winner from Barreled Souls IMO.

2020 vintage. 500 ml bottle at share. dark brown pour, traces of head. Aroma is malty, prunes, raisins. Taste follows the same path, big rich malty, flavors, mildly sweet, pit fruit. Subtle warmth.

Ruby-tinted brown with a finger of fizzy, tan head. Bubbles away fairly quickly leaving a thin crown and some churning effervescence. No lacing, but some alcohol legs.
The aroma is a touch thinner than expected, but with all the right elements and sufficient depth: caramel, cherry, leather, cocoa, and vanilla-laden bourbon.
Loads of vanilla and plenty of caramel, too. Almost a jammy level of fruit, with a mix of plum, grape jelly, fig and cherry cola. Some definite alcohol heat. A little coconut. Some leathery and earthy notes far behind. Complex and tasty, but very sweet.
Medium bodied, slick, oily feel… a bit on the sticky side. Sharp carbonation for the style.
I love the flavors in this, but it’s sweet enough that a pint-plus is a bit of an undertaking for one person. Probably should have shared this.
