Stout aged in Maker’s Mark barrels for a year, then finished on banana, vanilla, and graham cracker. Made in collaboration with Mortalis Brewing.

500 mL bottle. Black. Smells of banana, whiskey, cinnamon? Something weird here too. Vanilla. Tastes of strong vanilla and cinnamon. Whiskey amplifies. Banana behind it. The flavor is weird. The banana is so strong that it becomes... weird. Can't put my finger on why. Heavy and sweet. Maple? Something very sweet. Can't get behind it.

Pours a very dark brown/almost black with about a fingers worth of bubbly, cola-colored head. Smell is almost completely barrel, with just a light bit of vanilla that was more noticeable as it warmed. Taste is barrel forward with vanilla standing out. I also get the graham cracker, but very little banana. Mouthfeel is medium, which I expected. In my opinion it almost has the consistency of a whisky/cola. Overall, very nice, but I've never been disappointed with a Barreled Souls stout and this was my first experience with anything from Mortalis.
