Sampling a cellar temp 500 ml bottle. Picked up from the brewery in spring of 2021, bottled on 12/15/2020, been in my cellar since.
The beer pours a dark black coffee color with no light passing through my glass. A dense tan head of .5 cm foams up and fades to a wispy edge layer and an active scattered surface bubbling.
Aroma on this beer is dark chocolate and some vanilla and faint coconut. I do get some nutty scents and I keep smelling mild cinnamon, though its not an ingredient on the label.
First sip reveals a silky smooth and rich textured beer with very fine and tingly carbonation. Not quite prickly, but definitely adds some physical feature to the beer. Also a bit of sticky coating on my lips from each sip.
Flavor is rich chocolate, sort of cocoa powder notes, some sweet vanilla again, and hints of coconut. I dont get any nutty notes here, and also no hops nor booze hints. malty, but not overtly sweet flavor profile.
this is a nice imperial stout and it feels great on the physical traits. Everything else is good also, but I m really enjoying the texture and overall experience. Glad to have had this one.
