Pours a slightly hazy reddish brown with a very thin white head, but I gotta give it props since that head hangs.
Smells cherry and almond up front. The cherry is dark sweet, not medicinal or candy. At first there is a vague sweet smell that becomes marshmallow after a few minutes in the glass. It actually smells great and I dig the marshmallow for now...
The cherry taste leads and is pretty strong. That is bolstered by the almond, then the vanilla peeks out at the end. Nice level of sourness, but it isn't playing great with the marshmallow. The acid and sweetness aren't harmonizing I think because of the marshmallow. The initial taste is an interesting jumble, but the end is a bit if a wreck. Not much, just a bit, as the marshmallow dukes it out with the sour and both lose.
Feel is appropriately light, decent acidic bite. A little astringent, but hardly dry.
Ok...bottom line. Almost but not quite a train wreck? Near miss? I really think the marshmallow is the misfit - toned down some or maybe even left out would be better for my tastes. Not terrible, not great, but kinda glad I only bought two.
