Collaboration with Southern Grist Brewing
This is a new version of a beer we made with Southern Grist Brewing a few years ago. This time we made a barley wine base and added box after box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal.

Poured from bottle that has been kept in refrigerator since I received it last year.
Pours a very dark brown, almost black with about a fingers worth of mocha head. A tad bit of carbonation showed in the foam, but not much.
A bit of cinnamon on the nose, but almost a cola smell overall. I don't get an alcohol smell at all.
Sweet and easy to drink. The cinnamon is there, but not overwhelming. I was thinking that could have been from holding onto it for a year, but from checking other reviews after drinking, it seems like it's held on. It's a nice taste, as I'm usually not into overly cinnamon beers.
A little on the thin side, but doesn't take away from the beer at all.
Overall, a nice offering from two of my favorite breweries. Not exactly what I'm used to barleywine wise, but I'm glad I was able to try it.

Im sampling a cellar temp bottle poured into my trusty snifter. Picked up the beer last October and has been in cellar since then. Bottled on 7-02-2021.
The beer pours a dark mahogany color with almost no light coming through the glass and a fluffy beige head of 2.5 cm foams up and fades slowly after the pour. Leaves very dense lattice on the sides of the glass and a large island on the center floating lightly on the beer.
Aroma is actually pretty much what I expect with some toffee and grainy cereal notes and of course a sweet cinnamon sugar note. Makes me think of those old football player Domino cinnamon and sugar shakers! No hint of any booze and nothing in the hop family either. the lack of booziness on the nose is pretty impressive to me.
First sip reveals a surprisingly light body with thinner texture than I would expect, maybe from the heavy dose of pure fermentables thinned out the beer? Carbonation is medium and very fine.
Flavor is similar to the nose, I get some light toffee and caramel, rolls to brown sugar and some cinnamon. The cinnamon lingers after the swallow but tastes real, not like a Big Red chewing gum. I dont get any hop character and the ABV is well hidden throughout the tasting....well maybe not at the end of the bottle ! :P
I enjoy this beer and think it all works, still liked Cinnsanity as my favorite cinnamon barleywine more, but this is pretty solid and Im glad to have tried it!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
