Sampling a cellar temp 500 ml bottle poured into my snifter. The beer was bottled on 8/3/2021 and picked up at the brewery in October 2021 and in my cellar since then till today.
The beer pours a dark coffee brown and a fizzy tan head of .5 cm foams up and fades to nothing very quickly. The beer looks like a merlot (minus the red) in the glass.
Aroma is malty with fudge brownie, some toffee and a bit of vanilla. I dont get any booze nor any hop character here on the nose.
First sip reveals a fairly thick body and sticky mouthfeel with almost non existent carbonation. Slides down very easy on the swallow. The flavor is sweet and malty. I get chocolate fudge and vanilla, a bit of toffee note and here I do get blueberry notes. The blueberry lingers a bit on the swallow too.
Never any hops nor ABV in this beer. Could definitely be too sweet for many. This is a pretty solid beer, but its definitely sweet. Glad to have tried it, but do prefer other Barreled Souls beers more.
