Im sampling a cellar temp 500 ml bottle poured into my trusty snifter. Beer was bottled on 11/18/2020 and has been in my cellar since October 2021. The beer pours a very dark mahogany to dark chocolate color with basically no light passing through the glass.
A dense minimal beige head foams up maybe .5 cm and fades to a sturdy edge layer soon after the pour. There is also one wispy island in the center of my glass.
Aroma is sweet mix of malt notes and booze with no hop notes to be detected anywhere. I get brown sugar, cinnamon raisin cookie, toffee and some fig mixing together. I dont actually think cinnamon is in any of the blended beers, but am sure the cookie note is there.
The first sip results in dense lattice on the sides of my glass and reveals a big body with sticky texture and fine spacious carbonation. There is a sticky residue on my lips after I take each sip. Feels like a big boozy beer on the physical traits.
Flavor is sweet and malty with brown sugar, red grape, toffee, figs, some sweet chocolate, and raisins. No cinnamon notes here. No hops either. I do get some bitey booze and warmth after each swallow. I also get a bit of an almond note that I didnt notice on the nose. Overall the beer is very sweet and borders on cloying and a bit to candyesque. But generally, I like it and am enjoying emptying my glass.
Its a bit of a sipper and a bit sweet and a bit boozy, but enjoyable.
