Sampling a cellar temp 2021 bottle of this beer and pouring into my snifter. I picked this up as part of my haul from the bottle society and its been in my cellar since.
The beer pours a rich dark coffee brown with a dense creamy tan head of easy 3 cm. this foam fades slowly to a sturdy surface covering that sticks around for most of the sampling.
Aroma is some dark chocolate and a good dose of cinnamon. I dont get much of a coffee hit and the ABV is well hidden. No hop character here either.
First sip reveals a medium body and very fine and gentle carbonation. This beer drinks pretty easy for a bigger stout.
Flavor is some roasted malts, dark chocolate and again lots of cinnamon. Not artificial though, sort of earthy notes and only a little tingly. Again no hop character on this beer.
This drinks pretty easy and the cinnamon works well and is not over powering. The coffee really doesnt show through too much to me.
A solid beer , not in the top tier from Barreled Souls in my opinion, but still very enjoyable.
