Sampling a cellar temp 500 ml bottle and poured into my trusty snifter. Beer was bottled on 10/27/2022.
The beer pours a rich coffee brown color with no light passing through my glass. A dense creamy head of 1 cm foams up and fades to a sturdy edge layer soon after the pour. I get some dense lattice when I take a sip from the beer or swirl my glass. this beer looks pretty nice in the glass.
Aroma is not surprisingly roasted coffee grounds, some roast malt and hints of dark chocolate. Pretty straightforward aroma and basically what I would have expected from the descriptors.
First sip reveals a medium body and very soft and gentle carbonation. Texture is smooth and the beer drinks very easy.
Flavor is similar to the nose with lots of roasted malt notes, coffee grounds and a little bitter coffee note. This isnt a "light and sweet" coffee stout. No hint of hops and the ABV is pretty hidden too.
the beer is an imperial coffee stout so it tastes like what you would expect, but not sweetened and not overly bitey either. Its a good beer, but not top tier for Barreled Souls IMO.
