This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.

This smells like charred marshmallow, caramel, festive oaky spice, dark chocolate, and leathery bourbon.

Barreled Souls usually keeps a pretty steady hand on the pastry bag for their stouts, and this is no exception. The marshmallow is there but it provides a layer to the vibrant barrel character, adding a charred marshmallow and vanilla vibe to a barrel character that’s already sort of presenting as such. There’s a wonderful oakiness that almost feels like graham cracker – like s’mores dropped into a bourbon barrel. There’s caramel and leather from the barrel, with a deep spiciness that is just perfect for the beer.

This is medium bodied, a little thicker than Barreled Souls usually is, but still the leaner and not syrupy body that they are known for.

I’ve always liked the Stay Puft beers, but this is definitely the logical endpoint and apex of the series.

Milk chocolate and baker's chocolate, a hint of vanilla and white chocolate, marshmallows, and a sweet bourbon barrel boozy nose on this one! Taste follows exactly with a soft and full, marshmallow-vanilla, bourbon barrel finish. For this being 2+ years old, this is aging really well...with no hint of oxidation detected. It seems like the marshmallow vibes may have fallen off just a touch, but this is really well done. This is good!

Im sampling a 500 ml bottle at cellar temp with a bottling date of 07/11/2022. bottle 118 of 1200. Been in my cellar since pick up at the brewery about 1.5 years ago.
the beer pours a dark coffee black color with no light passing through my glass. Very minimal dense tan head foams up less than .5cm and fades to a sturdy edge layer soon after the pour. This edging creates some scattered lattice when I swirl or take a sip from the glass.
Aroma is very rich and bold from the moment I pop the cap off I can smell a lot coming out. I get rich fudge notes, marshmallow and vanilla, I swear I am getting a banana note in the background (not an ingredient), some sweeter bourbon note and also what I can describe as mild cinnamon (this may be a bourbon offshoot as no cinnamon added either). No hop character and not really any fusol booze notes.
First sip reveals a fairly thick body and chewy texture with fine and prickly carbonation. Not gonna be drinking this one too fast.
Flavor is similar to the nose with fudge and vanilla mixing with sweet bourbon. I also get a pretty good dose of warming booze on the finish here. Not surprising at 16.2%! Never any hop character. The bourbon lingers a bit and I pick up a little dry wooden barrel note in the background. Warmth makes for a sipping beer and booziness lingers long after each swallow.
Solid , big boozy imperial stout. Feels like a 1 and done beer night!

4 oz pour at the source $6.

Presents opaque black with zero head or retention. Rich bourbon with chocolate in the nose. Full bodied with a tacky, chewy mouthfeel. Dark chocolate, boozy bourbon, vanilla on the palate. Finishes sweet and warming .
