Im sampling a 500 ml bottle of this beer poured into my snifter at cellar temp. Beer was bottled on 10/12/2022 and has been in my cellar for over a year. Beer was aged in Basil Hayden barrels for 13 months and 2 days.
the beer pours a rich black coffee color with thin creamy tan head of about 1 cm. this foam fades to a sturdy edge layer that leaves clingy lattice on each sip from the glass.
Aroma is a little dark chocolate, some roasted malt, a good amount of bourbon and some charred wood too. A little bit of booziness comes through as well, but no hop character on the nose.
First sip reveals a full body and smooth texture with a fizzy fine carbonation. Big body makes it more of a sipping beer.
Flavor is similar to the nose advertisements. I get mild dark chocolate notes mixing with a little caramel and a lot of bourbon. There is a bit of charred wood but bourbon carries the flavor on the finish. Sort of sweet but not over the top.
Again, no hop character on the flavor, and booze doesnt create heat and only a little bit of peppery flavor. A pretty solid straight forward bourbon aged imperial stout.

Bottled 10/12/2022. Poured at fridge temp. Pours motor oil black, and super thick. Light dusting of brown head.
The nose is intense, bold, and amazing. So...much...barrel. That toasted barrel comes through immediately. Rich chocolate, toasted vanilla, toffee, booze, and some dark fruit.
The taste is really nice. Chocolate, somewhat harsh booze, vanilla, and dark berries. Rye bread an burnt sugar. A hint of very dark roasted malts. Really intense.
The mouthfeel is viscous and gooey. Boozy aftertaste.
