Sampling a cellar temp 50 0ml bottle poured into a snifter. Beer was bottled on 11/16/2022 and was picked up at the brewery as part of bottle society grab 1.5 years ago. Bottle has been in my cellar since that time.
The beer pours a rich chestnut to mahogany color and almost no light passes through the glass when I hold it to a light source. A dense off white head of about 0.5 cm foams up and fades to a sturdy edge layer soon after the pour. this edging sticks around throughout the sampling and gives some scattered lattice when I swirl or take a sip.
Aroma on the beer is cinnamon toast, with some brown sugar and bourbon rounding out the nose. Cinnamon is sort of spicy not earth like I sometimes detect cinnamon. There is a little bit of toffee too and no hint of hops and not really boozy either. Pretty impressive for 12.1%
First sip reveals a medium body with very fine, gentle carbonation. Only faintest coating on the texture and this beer drinks pretty easy on the physical traits.
Flavor is some toffee and brown sugar with a bit of cinnamon. Some sweet bourbon comes in and general fruit note. The beer gets very sweet in the middle of experience. Sort of sweet fruity note that borders to candy like. Cinnamon lingers after the swallow with a little warmth. No hop character anywhere.
Easy drinker physically, but sweetness is a little much for me. Beer is fine and flavors work well but its too sweet. A bit of a miss on this one IMO.
