An Imperial Stout with Papa New Guinea vanilla beans. Brings a flowery, fruity, and anisic aroma with a smooth flavor.

Pours a ruby-tinted inky black with an overly large dark mocha head that leaves thick, sloppy rings of lacing.
Aroma is very much that of an RIS: umami, campfire, marshmallow, distant cherry and toast.
Weird taste. There’s a hit of medicinal alcohol up front, then some fire-roasted marshmallow and cherry tartness, followed by a dry, matte-tasting earthy cocoa powder with some almost astringent bitterness.
Slick, creamy feel with some understated zip to the carbonation.
This is an odd duck. The taste’s not bad, but definitely not what I was expecting and not particularly congruent either. Worth sipping and pondering over, though.
