Sampling a cellar temp 500 ml bottle poured into my trusty snifter. The beer pours a dark coffee brown color with a creamy beige head of about 1 cm. This foam fades to a sturdy edge layer soon after the pour. Gives a little scattered lacing after each sip or swirl of my glass.
Aroma is less sweet than I anticipated with the additive list. I do get fudge and dark chocolate with a bit of sweeter bourbon and hints of vanilla. I dont get any hops nor any coconut from the nose. Booze is also well hidden.
First sip reveals a medium body with very smooth texture and mild, gentle carbonation. There is some coating of my palate with each sip.
Flavor is definitely the sweetness that I expected, I get vanilla, cookie cream, chocolate and some fudge. Only hints of bourbon here, no booziness and no hops. The sweetness lingers with a bit of roasted note too.
beer is pretty easy to drink, but the sweetness does buildup and towards the end of the glass Im getting to overload sweet.
Solid beer, missed the coconut and not as much bourbon as I hoped, but its good. glad to have tried this one.
