A light, roasty stout brewed with Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.

Because of the multi finger levels of tan foam on each pour it took three pours to get the full can of beer into the glass. Black colored body with a very thin mahogany brown back lit edge. The head after each pour quickly collapses to islands and remnants of foam left on the sides of the glass. As the body recedes with each sip there are a few wispy lacing strings left behind.
Aroma is of dusty peanuts and elemental milk chocolate. Very earthy smell, but also a perfume.
Taste introduces sourness into the mix. The blended flavors of milk chocolate and peanuts are sweet but the peanuts continue to be earthy in presentation. The initial sourness recedes and adds some tang overall. No bitterness. The aftertaste has earthy boiled peanuts and tanginess but this does not linger long.
Thinner mouthfeel with a drying sourness. Initial burst of foam carbonation but the body is quite still.
The sourness is unexpected but the earthiness endures. Low level of chocolate expression. Allowing the beer to sip on the tongue does bring forth a definite milk chocolate vibe.

After this beer finally settled down, I finally decided I didn’t like it. That is my thesis.
There was some serious fluffy brown head after the initial pour, I could only get out 6 ounces into a regular tulip with the rest taken up by the airy head.
A couple sniffs at a couple different times only gave me a somewhat watery bouquet.
I finally was able to tilt the glass enough to steal a sip and it was still really cold out of the fridge, and really sour, as if it had gone bad in less than a year!
No! Not Barreled Souls! After letting it warm up a little I thought, oh yeah, it’s the barrel aging process gone “wild”…there is some boot leather or fresh cigar in there; not a taste I typically seek out in a peanut butter stout…but on my second and final 8 ounces of this can, not one that I didn’t entirely not enjoy. This is not your traditional stout, and can’t find the Reese’s, but I think something else has taken over that makes it work sorta ok, but not really. I’ll finish it just out of curiosity and appreciation of what Barreled Souls tries to impart in some of their beers, but I can’t really say I liked it, but can’t really say I’d ever reach for it again either…!
