Our Munichwine made with 100% dark Munich malt from Blue Ox Malthouse in Lisbon Falls, ME. New category to add to the barleywine family. Brewed in collaboration with our friends at Heist Brewery, NC. Aged for 10 months and 17 days in Willett 7year Rye barrels.

Pouring a 500 ml bottle at cellar temp into a snifter. Bottle is date stamped 04/17/2023. Has been in my cellar since I picked up as part of my brewery haul last year.
The beer pours a rich, dark mahogany color with a dense creamy beige head of almost 3 cm. Close to overtopping my glass.
Aroma on this beer is caramel, toffee, some werthers sweetness, a bit of bourbon and hints of fusol booze. Cant totally hide the 15% ABV.
First sip reveals a medium body with smooth texture and very fine gentle carbonation. Beer drinks surprisingly easy on the physical traits.
Flavor matches up well with the aroma, I get toffee and caramel with hints of bourbon and brown sugar , plus maybe a little raisin. Booze comes in on the swallow with some warmth and peppery bite. Warmth lingers after the swallow. Never any hops anywhere on this beer.
Im enjoying drinking this one and feel its gonna be a bit of a sipper with the heat on the swallow.
