Poured at fridge temp. Plenty of carbonation and fizzing after being poured. This seems characteristic of Barreled Souls beers. Very dark brown. The nose is caramel candy, honey, booze, plums, and a bit of an earthy note.
The taste is quite a bit different from the nose. I was genuinely surprised when tasting this. Not necessarily in a good way. There is an odd note that I can't quite put a finger on. Nutty, metallic, raisin, booze, soapy, honey, plums, maybe a bit of caramel. I don't know - this is just slightly odd to me.

I am sampling a cellar temp 500 ml bottle poured into my snifter. beer was bottled on 10/21/2024. Picked up at the brewery this past august and has been in my cellar since then.
The beer pours a rich mahogany color with creamy beige head of 1.5 cm and this fades to a sturdy surface covering leaving significant windowpane lacing. The surface covering remains through the sampling.
Aroma is some brown sugar, raisins, some general dark fruit and a bit of peppery fusol booze. No hops appear to have been harmed in the making of this aroma!
First sip reveals a medium body with slightly sticky texture and very fine tingly carbonation. The beer does coat my palate a little with each sip.
Flavor is similar to the nose, fairly malt forward with plums and raisins mixing with brown sugar and some toffee. There is black peppery bite on the finish and a little warming on each swallow.
This is an enjoyable and dangerously drinkable beer from Barreled Souls. Malt forward and good complexity, I would drink again if given the opportunity

Plums and golden raisins, cereal barley malty, and a fruity berry tart nose on this one! Taste follows with a sweet and tart, hint of caramel, and a golden raisin/dark fruity finish. This is drinkable and different, but just not my jam/doesn't fit my palate, unfortunately. As it warms, it starts to open up and become a little more enjoyable, but not enough for me to want to revisit.
