Sampling a cellar temp 500 ml bottle of this beer and pouring into my stemless tulip glass. The beer pours motor oil black with a slightly spongey tan head of about 1.5 cm. This beer looks the part of an imperial stout.
Aroma is some dark chocolate fudge with spicy rye and hints of sweeter bourbon. I get a little vanilla and only hints of peppery booze. No hops were harmed in the aroma on this beer.
First sip reveals a medium to thicker body, but definitely not quite to chewy. Carbonation is very fine, mild and sort of soft. Beer actually drinks easier than it should.
Flavor is what the nose advertises. I get dark fudge, hints of vanilla, spicy rye, some peppery booze and again hops are absent. No accompanying heat for that peppery note though.
I find the beer to be easier to drink than it probably should be for 14%.
I wish I had another bottle of this, it isnt overly complex, but is good and tasty and is a straight forward barrel aged imperial stout. Would gladly drink another bottle.

Poured on tap at the brewery. Pours black as night with zero head. The nose is boozy. Vanilla and rye come through the most. The taste is absolutely fantastic. Definitely a bit hot. Dark malts, vanilla, spice, oak, molasses, and dark fruit. Great mouthfeel. Lovely beer overall.
