This one pours a dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells quite jammy, with slightly tart but mostly sweet blackberry, milk chocolate, vanilla, black cherry, tobacco, oak, some bourbon spice, and roasted malt.
A lot of the Stay Puft variants are great, but run down paths that are quite similar to each other. This one is quite different, in a great way, though. The fruit addition never gets overwhelming – it’s jammy, authentic, and sweet, but doesn’t bury anything else. The marshmallow presents more like vanilla than the more artificial taste you’d sometimes get with marshmallow. There’s oaky red wine, black cherry, milk chocolate, some caramel, and a light hit of bourbon as it warms up.
This is silky, creamy, velvety, and not that boozy, with a nice drinkability.
I can’t wait to try every one of the beers in this awesome Stay Puft box set.
