This light, thirst-quenching ale has the crisp flavor and finish of a lager. A clean, light malt profile paired with just the right amount of traditional German hops make this a perfect companion for yard work camping and general enjoyment of the land of enchantment.

This was another beer I picked up while traveling in Cimarron, New Mexico last summer. Loved the label of this beer and the name as it was refreshing to find a brew like this in the Land of Enchantmet. Lucky for me, the taste was just as refreshing with the end result being a beer that hit the spot on this excessively mild first night of summer!

Bright and straw in hue, this had enough foam to top it off, as that never completely dissipated. A well-defined ring of lacing remained at the the top of the liquid level as the suds the rest of the way down were quite extensive. Just a few bits of dark sediment floated around as the aroma contained mild hops, bread, cracker, and light floral notes. A bit of white grape, sourdough, and lemon came in on the palate as this had a nice, but mellow, range for the style with everything meshing nicely together. Lively in carbonation, full-bodied, and a bit grassy in the aftertaste, this was a pleasant surprise that left me wishing that I saved another can or two for the ride back here.

Canned on 5/31 (and best before 8/29) of last year, this held up decently although it would be great to give it another go-around. It's rating is easily justified on here as it's one of the best examples of a Kolsch that I've reviewed on here. Cheers to Boxing Bear for this lovely gem!

A: The beer is relatively clear light yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high bright white head that left a narrow collar around the edge of the glass and some lacing on the surface.
S: Light to moderate aromas of green grapes are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has additional hints of biscuit-like yeast and has a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels a bit more than light-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This Kölsch goes down very easy and makes for a good lawnmower beer.

Light yellow body with great clarity; coarse, active carbonation; very thin, bubbly head that barely covers the surface of the beer. Grainy and herbal aroma; fruity esters, pears. Excellent light cereal grain base flavor; delicate sweetness; subdued hop bitterness. Light to medium mouthfeel; soft body; crisp; edge of warmth.

The looks are sub-par, primarily due to the very weak head, but the beer picks up with the smell and redeems itself with the taste and mouthfeel. It tastes like a traditional kölsch beer. I have another can and wouldn't mind trying some more in the future.

No dating information on the can. Acquired through Tavour.

16oz can into a pint glass. Canned 3/12/21, so almost 3 weeks old.

Looks good in the glass. Faintly hazy pale yellow body. Small white head shrinks to a ring and faint covering, a little lacing early on.

Only a little malt on the nose.

On tasting, clean, crisp, bready, malty, with the faintest of hop touches. There is also a barely discernible pepper hit.

Mouth a solid medium, finish crisp and refreshing.

Overall, a clean well made beer, great lunchtime beer after a little physical labor.

A pleasant ale/lager for a southwestern lunch (tortillas and guacamole.)
Looks a bit below average for the style which often uses some darker malts. Smells offer a nice fruitiness (mostly lemon) from the alt (ale-like) yeast. Tastes display the German hops out front and their balance never really leaves. Sits very nicely in mouth; soft, but refreshing. Cleanses the palate for more mild salsa.

I received my copy from Tavour and wish I had not given away the other one.

This is my first beer from New Mexico, so I cannot judge Boxing Bear relative to its competition. But they seem to have advanced like a six year old crafter. They have both the traditional styles for the American palate and a few unexpected offerings. They have three taprooms and a small menu at one; so they are making a go of it with mostly beer. Cheers !

Murky yellow that lets in all the light but cannot see through, faint white ring. Slight lemon and grains, a very delicate aroma bouquet for sure. Taste is more vibrant, wheat toast, lemon, with a bath of german yeast. Feel is crisp for style, but otherwise smooth and docile.

Pours straw yellow with a white head. Aroma is a touch grainy, slightly grassy, and maybe a hint of lemon. Flavor is much the same but a bit more pronounced. A crisp, active mouthfee with a nice dry finish. Mouthfeel almost makes this beer for me. Overall, not much of a kolsch fan but thought this was great. Weirdly, this might be my favorite beer I have tried from Boxing Bear.
