my first from these guys in some time, clever name, an easy drinking and somewhat minimal, but well crafted mexican lager, on the very approachable end of the spectrum in an already real approachable style, perhaps done with corn, but its not really a factor in the flavor, and this ends up more of just a warm weather beer flavored beer than anything too specific or interesting, which is fine because its fairly tidy, doesnt fall apart as it warms up, and avoids any cheapness or thinness even though its so light. neat art on the can, so light in the glass it almost looks like beer cut with water, pretty clear but man is it light, almost not even yellow, very short head on it too after the initial pour, but ample carbonation, enough to keep this refreshing anyway. slightly doughy in the nose to me, like mixing up pancake batter or something, that kind of rawness to the malt, good minerality and sort of cool notes to me, which adds to the refreshment value, dry and quick, without much from the hops but just a little fruity thing from the ferment, very subtle overall, and the same is true with the flavor where the grain leads but really it kind of all hits at once and then its gone, this would certainly appeal to a macro light drinker i would think, trace bready character in the middle before light citrus at the end, a little papery thing like maybe its not super fresh, a hint of apple juice as it warms, oyster crackers, lightly dusty, even slightly german to me for a second, but quick overall and perhaps not a beer that warrants a ton of intricate analysis, more of just a drinker. not quite watery feeling, but there just isnt much here. there are certainly more robust options for craft mexican lagers out there, but this is simple and fine and should have wide appeal.
