Dense head depending on the pour. Sharp amber color for an IPA. Heavy hop scent, but it has a thick malty mouth feel (not necessarily a bad thing). The first taste (relatively sweet) doesn't register as IPA at first, but then the hops take over. A solid beer and worth seeking out.

Dark amber, mostly hazy. Bubbly head with solid retention and lacing. Aroma is light tropical fruit and citrus with some caramel malt. Flavor is ripe melon, apricot and orange. Caramel malt smooths it all out. So smooth for suck s high ABV. Juicy and resinous is the mouthfeel. Thick and sweet, an excellent beer overall.

22oz bottle served in a tulip. I don't see a date on the bottle.
Pours slightly hazy, mostly amber, medium head, medium carbonation. Smell is juicy, maybe a hint of pine.
Taste is juicy, yet surprisingly dry. Slow bitter finish. Some citrus.
Mouthfeel is fairly thick and heavy. Overall, nice beer.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium coppery amber with a fine two finger off-white head with great retention and nice sheets of carbonation in the glass. Aroma of citrus and piney hops with a bit of dankness, caramel malt and tropical fruit. Flavor is resinous piney and citrus hops, light caramel malt with mild biscuit, interesting intense hop finish, quite resinous but not as piney as expected, grapefruit and light citrus. Long lingering powerful hop bitterness but not astringent, with a peculiar, but pleasant estery element. Nice lightly creamy body with great carbonation. Many tripel IPAs are hard to distinguish from a barleywine, but the malt in this is so mildly flavored (although very supportive of the hops) that this really tastes like what I'd expect from a triple IPA: a big burst of hops. There is mild herbal flavors in the hops, but enough to make hard to define side flavors in what otherwise seem to be distilled hop resin. I like a big malty body in my triple IPAs, leaning towards barleywine malt body, but in this case Three Magnets pulled off a flavorful hoppy IIPA with malt support that sits in the background delivering hops. The massive ABV is well covered. These guys are doing great work here. This is nice, distinctive triple IPA.

This was a BOMB! Golden orange body with a white head that laced the glass nicely as it stuck around for a bit considering the abv. Tons of citrus and some floral hops on the nose, big juicy flavors up front with a piney finish that was just slightly on the dry side for such a big beer. Biscuity malt backbone and slightly sweet, hints of caramel. Full bodied beer with good carbonation, feels similar to some of the more outstanding barleywines. This is a pretty darn good beer. I didn't like the 3mag IPA, the beer this is supposedly based on, but I've loved their other offerings thus far. Reasonable price tag, prolly pick this up again as available. Good stuff, lots of bang for the buck.

For such a huge imperial IPA, the sweetness in this was impressively restrained. But I ultimately found the alcohol to be a little overwhelming. While still enjoyable, and surprisingly drinkable, any truly interesting hop or malt character could not be found by my palate. I suspect that Three Magnets, which has shown good early promise for such a young brewery, will iron this one out in future releases.
