Orangey amber, crystal clear, and topped with plenty of foam in the Kölsch glass. Interesting aromas with raspberry, lemon peel, and pine. Flavors of strawberry and orange with a woody finish. The whole thing is earthy with highlights of citrus. Rather winey and overly alcohol tasting. It does taste like a DIPA, hot and hopped up, but not as sweet as lots of that style. From the 16 oz can purchased at the North Jetty restaurant near Long Beach, Wash. Dated 11/29/23.

approaching imperial status in terms of abv, but it sure doesnt present like that as i drink it, yeah this has some body and some good hop bite, but in no way is its alcohol strength evident, i think thats neat, especially on a chilly windy day where i kind of needed the warmth it gave me without knowing it. not fully clear but neither hazy nor sloppy looking either, and with a lot of froth from the tap, heady and foamy and lasting. aroma on this is pine forward, perhaps cut slightly from the old school, but not to the extent that its malty and overly balanced, just to the tune of it being bitter, northwester, and sturdy, the malt is actually kind of mild to my nose, a little toasted but drier than many like this. the flavor shows a little nutty vibe to the grain, a light caramel aspect but its all hops from the jump, spruce, forest, and bitter grapefruit, probably a mix of c varietal hops, but certainly high alpha. its fresh to me, ever so slightly yeasty but not quite english, and with some robust bitterness through the swallow. nice water chemistry on this, big hop schedule, oddly smooth and sort of easy for what it is. not my favorite kind of ipa anymore, but was pleased with this, especially in the cold weather context. these guys have a good thing going.
