Clear amber with adequate foam in the Maredsous goblet. Aromatic with citrus and alcohol. Not very sweet, and tastes seriously strong with a sharpish mouthfeel. But not acidic. Flavors are green melon, cucumber, and lime peel, with hints of grapefruit and mint. Interesting and very hot but otherwise surprisingly subtle.
The alcohol does burn a little, sliding down the gullet. Aaaargh! Good grog! But this is really quite a tasty and even drinkable brew, for being such a massively hopped concoction. From the 16 oz can purchased at the brewpub near Long Island, Wash. Not dated but tastes very fresh.
