First time trying this beer, and I see that it's relatively well received. So I'm hoping that this batch with grapefruit was just off - it definitely tasted hot, with an unpleasant fusel harshness on the mid- and back-end. Other beers were tasty enough; this was a miss.

Update: the beer has a harsh rustic bitterness upfront and a fusel lingering aftertaste. There is some grapefruit and pine, but the flavor is overwhelmingly dominated by chalky bitterness. This is a no-go, undrinkble, and the thing that San Diego brewers are afraid of - bad quality beer.
