A refreshing wheat beer that favors the hops notes over the yeast character. hopped only with new Zealand hops, this beer pours a slightly hazy orange with a fluffy white head. The aroma is a of bright citrus with a just a hint of pine. The taste is a mix of bready and grassy with just a hint of pine in the finish with citrus throughout.

for what this is, it should really be more flavorful. all new zealand hops in a pale wheat beer? yes please! but the execution here yields a rather average beer overall unfortunately. its not bad, still real drinkable, but some lackluster use of the hops ends up defining this one for me. they arent as aromatic and juicy as they could be, maybe a larger dry hop would be helpful. the wheat too is a little funny, like it was mashed a bit warm, sort of a more protein rich vibe, some tannins from the hulls, and just a bit of an almost acidic property rather than the round cereal smoothness i was expecting from the wheat. bitterness is nice, sort of in the pale ale range, and that really works. there is something odd about the yeast too, not quite belgian, but definitely not flavorless, i am wondering if perhaps the fermentation temperature creeped up a little high on them and produced some of this fruitiness. the hops could be more forward in the flavor, but i do like this being on the lighter side, sessionable and summery. good not great, which is the overall vibe i get from modern after just a couple of their beers...

Hazy golden to slightly orange tinted with fingernail of off white on top. Aroma is of pale wheat. The taste is surprising with a citrus hop zing that I did not perceive in the aroma. Pale wheat appears at the back of the palate. The body is fairly light, quenching, and quaffable.

This was an odd one for me. Imagine your standard American Pale Wheat, but mixed with the funkiness of a Saison. Boom, that is what this tastes like. It has a considerably noticeable and flavor forward funk backing everything up. I am sort of curious if this was intentional as I have never tasted something quite like this before. If it was intentional, then I get that they are trying to stand out from other offerings in the market. Just not sure if this is the way to do it. Not sure if it is a good match up.
